Billecart-Salmon Champagne Decanter

Saint Valentines: the only day of the year when it's deemed acceptable for men to drink pink champagne. To that end, we'd like to recommend you pick up a bottle of Billecart-Salmon's Brut Rosé this evening (an insanely reasonable £60). Or, better still, Billecart-Salmon's Vintage 2004 Extra Brut Champagne decanter set (pictured). The practice of decanting champagne may sound pervese, but there are a couple of good reasons to do it. Firstly, aerating champage - even for a few minutes - develops subtler aromas. Secondly, removing around 15% of the bubbles softens the 'aggressive' fizz, allowing one to comfortably drink champagne with a meal. (Mr Outre's tip: keep the decanter in an ice bucket or, better still, chill it in the fridge beforehand).
