Pinel & Pinel Martell Trunk

Anything to declare? Er, 38 bottles of cognac... Yes it's fair to say that getting Pinel & Pinel's bespoke Martell Trunk through customs would be taxing in more ways that one. Aside from showcasing Martell's entire range of cognac, it features 28 showpiece blends (the smaller bottles) created by Martell's cellar master, Benoît Fil. Standing 2m high, each trunk (there are currently 'only' 10 in the world) takes 10 craftsmen 1,000 hours to complete. Still, that's hardly surprising given they contain everything one could need for impromptu revelry. Those luxuriously-lined draws contain: crystal glasses, decanters, cocktail accoutrements, a silver ice bucket, silver plates and napkins, a linen apron, teatowels, candles, leather-bound tasting notes hand-written by Monsieur Fil and - last but not least - a cigar humidor. Whatever the aforementioned craftsmen were smoking when they created this piece, it almost certainly wasn't a cigar...
