Mid-Century Ads: Advertising from the Mad Men Era

In the 50s and 60s, America was booming. It was the age of V8 'coops', casual lechery and rampant consumerism. As those of you who watch Mad Men will appreciate, the public's appetite for whiskey, cigarettes, guns and girdles was virtually insatiable. With that in mind, Taschen are issuing Mid-Century Ads, a collection of the finest American print advertisements of the day - digitally remastered and splashed over 700 colour pages. Compiled and written by Jim Heimann and Steven Heller (art director of the New York Times for 33 years), it is due out in March.
